Port of Ulsan to turn out to be eco-friendly vitality hub

Worldwide classification society Korean Register (KR) and Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) have signed an MOU to help methanol-fueled ships and set up the South Korean port as a low-carbon, eco-friendly vitality hub.

A rising variety of twin gas methanol vessels are being ordered by worldwide delivery firms, and in October South Korean delivery firm KSS Marine took supply of the nation’s first methanol powered vessel, MV Savonetta Solar, a 50,000 dwt product tanker.

The settlement was made in response to the low-carbon vitality transition underway within the delivery and port industries.

Each organizations will collaborate on regulatory reform, deregulation of methanol-fueled ships and methanol bunkering, using impartial tank terminals in Ulsan as methanol storage services, testing methanol bunkering at Ulsan port and constructing methanol provide infrastructure in Korean ports.

Commenting on the settlement, JEONG Chang-gyu, Vice President of UPA, said:
